John Carpenter

Not content with being one of the greatest directors of horror and action films - genres he brought into the modern age - John Carpenter also wrote the music for most of his masterpieces. Since 1974's Dark Star, John Carpenter has written the music for all his major theatrical releases. The only exceptions to this rule are The Thing (1982), Starman (1984), The Adventures of an Invisible Man (1992) and The Ward (2011). John Carpenter wrote the music and the terrible theme for Halloween (1978), the haunting theme for Assault (1976), Fog (1980), Vampires (1998) and Ghosts of Mars (2001). For the record, John Carpenter went so far as to form his own band, The Coupe de Villes, which released a single album in 1985.
