Jim K

A native of Côte d'Ivoire, Jim Koutouan made a national name for himself through music, and coupé-décalé, in the early 2000s. Participating in the rise of the movement and its rapid popular success, Jim K (sometimes Jim K Ressource or DJ Ressource) first worked in Abidjan's nightclubs before moving into production. In 2004, he recorded "Farot farot", his first attempt in the field of composition, which won over the public. With a release that enabled him to assert himself in the coupé-décalé milieu, Jim K re-released his album Taka danser in 2009. More open to electronic sounds, notably synthesizers and kuduro, the Ivorian singer unveils sixteen original tracks among the proposals of the time. Buoyed by hit singles such as "Coupé décalé", Jim K enlisted the services of African music stars such as Manu Dibango. With his integration into the country's music industry under his belt, the singer pursues his approach with Kuduro décalé, released in 2010, where Jim K's ambition to offer danceable music is further asserted.
