Jens Lekman

Jens Martin Lekman, born on February 6, 1981, in Angered, Gothenburg, Sweden, is a Swedish musician and songwriter. At age fourteen, Lekman began writing songs after joining his friend's cover band as a bassist. He adopted the pseudonym Rocky Dennis and released limited edition CD-R discs starting with The Budgie in 2001. In 2003, Lekman self-released the EP Maple Leaves, which gained significant attention through Swedish national radio and file-sharing platforms. This led to a contract with Secretly Canadian for releases outside Sweden. His debut album, When I Said I Wanted to Be Your Dog, was released in 2004 and reached Number 6 on the Swedish national chart. Lekman's subsequent albums include Oh You're So Silent, Jens (2005), Night Falls Over Kortedala (2007), I Know What Love Isn't (2012), and Life Will See You Now (2017). Notable songs include "You Are the Light" and "Friday Night at the Drive-In Bingo". After a collaboration with Annika Norlin for the album Correspondence in 2019, he released a new version of Night Falls Over Kortedala, titled The Linden Trees Are Still in Blossom, issued in 2022. In 2025 followed Songs for Other People's Weddings.
