Contemporary country songwriter Jason Michael Carroll was born in Youngsville, North Carolina, on June 13, 1978. The son of a pastor, he spent his childhood surrounded by religious music, until his father discovered a country album in his bedroom. Encouraged by his mother, Carroll won a local contest and moved to Nashville, where he performed regularly. Signed to the Arista Nashville label, he enjoyed considerable success with his debut album Waitin' in the Country (2007), which reached #1 on the country charts and included the hits "Alyssa Lies" (#5) and "Livin' Our Love Song" (#6). The artist maintains her reputation with the following album Growing Up Is Getting Old (No. 7), featuring the singles "Where I'm From" (No. 11) and "Hurry Home" (No. 14). Returning to the Quarter Back label in 2011, he signed Numbers, followed in 2015 by What Color Is Your Sky, released on the Malaco label. After composing the soundtrack for the film Strings in 2019, Jason Michael Carroll returns in 2024 with a self-produced album, Rest My Soul.
