Jason Donovan

Jason Donovan was born into an acting family and spent much of his childhood on the sets of Australian TV dramas and soaps, so it was almost inevitable that he would follow in his parents footsteps. His big break came when he was cast as Scott Robinson in Neighbours and became romantically linked both on and off-screen with his co-star Kylie Minogue. The pair decided to follow a musical path, were quickly signed by Stock, Aitken and Waterman and in 1988 they released the duet single Especially For You which went straight to the top spot in the UK charts, remaining in the charts for 14 weeks. Donovan's 1989 single Too Many Hearts and the album Ten Good Reasons both went to Number 1 in the UK and in 1991 he was cast as the lead in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jason and His Technicolor Dreamcoat. However, after Donovan sued the magazine The Face for libel, he lost a large chunk of his fan-base (namely the gay following) and his career pinnacle looked as though it had been reached. He has since confessed to having had a cocaine addiction during the 1990s but getting married and becoming a father focussed him and after his appearance in 2006 on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here, Donovan's acting and musical career enjoyed a resurgence - he released Let It Be Me, his first album for 15 years, in 2009 and starred in the stage production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
