Janus, an American alternative metal band from Chicago, formed in 1998. The group released their debut album Influx that same year through Mirror Records, featuring a sound influenced by bands like The Smashing Pumpkins and Tool. In 2004, Janus released their second album, Armor, which showcased a more modern alternative metal style. The band gained significant traction with the release of Red Right Return in 2008 through Level It Records/Glass Bottom Boat Music, later re-released in 2009 by REALID/ILG Records. This album included the popular single "Eyesore", which was accompanied by a music video directed by Noah Shulman. Janus toured extensively with notable acts such as All That Remains and Breaking Benjamin. Their fourth album, Nox Aeris, was released in 2012. The band disbanded in October 2016 but reunited in April 2019, releasing a cover of "Drive" by The Cars to support bipolar disorder research.
