Jansen & Kowalski

Jansen & Kowalski were a German rap duo formed in Hamburg by Florian Pfeifle Jansen, born 14 July 1978 in Hamburg, who played keyboard, piano, guitar, saxophone and banjo, and Aram Pirmoradi Kowalski, born 21 June 1979 in Boston, Massachusetts, who provided vocals and guitar and bass. The pair had been active together since the mid‑1990s in the local scene with the band Klaus Kinski Band, which focused on blaxploitation and soul jazz. Their first commercial breakthrough came in 2004 with the single "Wie Geil Ist Das Denn?" (Dicke Anbiete) featuring Das Bo, followed by the EP "Wie Geil Ist Das Denn?" (Dicke Anbiete) in January 2005 and the single "Mamacita" in August 2005, which placed thirteenth at the Bundesvision Song Contest 2005 representing Saxony‑Anhalt. The group supported acts such as 2raumwohnung and Seeed early in their career and produced beats for Dendemanns’ 2006 album Die Pfütze des Eisbergs. By the late 2000s the members had pursued separate projects, and the duo’s active period effectively concluded after 2006.
