Janice Gaines

Born Janice Reddick on May 22, 1981 in St. Louis, Missouri, Janice Gaines is a Stellar and GMA Dove Award-nominated gospel singer/songwriter. The daughter of a Methodist minister and gospel musician mother, Gaines grew up singing in church and, when she was a teenager, became the youngest member of O’Landa Draper & The Associates, a Memphis-based community choir. While attending college, she provided background vocals for soul/R&B vocalist Howard Hewett (ex-Shalamar). She became a member of the Worship Team for Women of Faith in 2010. She released her debut single, “One Day”, in 2012, which attracted the attention of the president of Motown Gospel. Signing with the label, she was first featured on the 2014 Motown Christmas album. The following year, she released her debut album Greatest Life Ever, which rose to Number 7 on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart. The album featured the singles “Wait On You” - which reached Number 21 on the Gospel Singles chart - and “The Break-Up Song”. Gaines was nominated for a GMA Dove Award for “Wait On You” and she also received a Stellar Award nomination for Contemporary Female Vocalist of the Year. In November 2020, Gaines and her brother Jon Reddick released the Christmas single “A Child Has Come”.
