Italian-born English singer-songwriter Giovanni "Jack" Savoretti (born in London on October 10, 1983) writes poetry and sets it to music when he learns to play guitar as a teenager. In 2006, he released his first single , "Without", a minor hit in his homeland (No. 90), which nevertheless brought him to the attention of neo-soul singer Corinne Bailey Rae, who invited him to join her on tour. The following year saw the release of Between the Minds, a folk album which reached No. 70 in the UK. This was followed in 2009 by Harder Than Easy, recorded with musicians from Tom Waits and Counting Crows. However, the album failed to sell well. Jack Savoretti interrupted his career out of disappointment, before reversing his decision and recording the songs for his third album Before the Storm (#109 in the UK), released in 2012. The artist signed with BMG for the following album Written in Scars (#7 in the UK in 2015), influenced by the music of his Italian origins and rock. He continued in this vein on the albums Sleep No More (2016), made with the same producers Sam Dixon and Matt Benbrook, then Singing to Strangers (2019), recorded in Rome. The latter topped the charts in its home country. Its successor, Europiana, enjoyed similar success two years later. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, it includes "Who's Hurting Who", the result of a collaboration with Nile Rodgers, and "When You're Lonely ", featuring John Oates. After a series of EPs recorded during the Covid-19 pandemic, Jack Savaronetti deepens his roots in his Italian origins with the album Miss Italia (2024), featuring only songs interpreted in the language of his ancestors, including covers and duets with Zucchero, Natalie Imbruglia and Miles Kane. In 2026, he returned to his pop-rock style with We Will Always Be the Way We Were, featuring contributions from KT Tunstall and Steph Fraser.
