Inka Bause was born in Leipzig on November 21, 1968. She is the daughter of composer Arndt Bause and grows up in Berlin-Biesdorf. She received musical support as a child and completed her vocal studies at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin in 1989. In 1984, she made her debut on GDR television with the single "Spielverderber". Her first album Inka is released by Amiga in 1987. This is followed by Schritte (1989), Ich geh' durch die Nacht (1991) and Ein Zug von irgendwo (1992). She reached third place in the ZDF hit parade in 1990 with the song "Aber Du". In 1998, she achieved fifth place at the German Schlager Festival with "Ich will nur Dich". In 2001, "Florian" was voted MDR's summer hit. In 2003, she wins the MDR summer hits night with "Mein Herz bleibt bei dir". After a musical break, she releases the album Mir fehlt nichts (I'm not missing anything) in 2008, followed by Mit offenen Armen (2018) and Lebenslieder (2020). The latter is released on her own label Songshine Music. In April 2025, the compilation entitled Inka is released. Her most recent singles include "Hab den Mond mit der Hand berührt" (2020), "So ging noch nie die Sonne auf" (2021), "Herz im Stroh" (2024) and "Gute Laune" (2025). Parallel to her music career, Inka Bause has been working as a presenter since 1988. She has hosted the RTL show "Bauer sucht Frau" since 2005. Other presenting roles include formats such as "Unser neues Zuhause", "Die 100.000 Euro Show" and "Jugendliebe". Her acting credits include "Der Millionär" (1996) and "Panik in der Blumenstadt" (1998).
