Ingrid Peters

Ingrid Peters, born Ingrid Probst on April 19, 1954, in Dudweiler, Saarland, is a German singer and radio host. She began her musical career as a singer in a band in 1973 and released her first record in 1976 with the single "Komm doch mal 'rüber" which was included on her debut album of the same name. Between 1976 and 1986, four of Ingrid Peters' songs charted in the official German sales charts. In 1979, she participated in the German preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest with "Du bist nicht frei", placing eighth. She achieved her highest chart position in Germany with a cover version of "Afrika" in 1983, reaching Number 1 on the ZDF-Hitparade. Ingrid Peters represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986 with "Über die Brücke geh'n", finishing in eighth place. After taking a hiatus from music, she returned in 1997 with the title "Komm und halt mich fest" at the Deutsche Schlager-Festspiele. Notable achievements include a performance at the Silvester-Show in Peking in 2000 and her one-woman musical Bin ich denn total verrückt?!, premiered in Saarbrücken's Congresshalle in 2002. Subsequent releases include Lass es rocken (2012) and the compilation Musik ist Gefühl – Das Beste aus 40 Jahren (2016). Ingrid Peters announced her retirement from performing in 2021.
