I Nomadi

I Nomadi, an Italian pop rock band, was formed in 1963 between Reggio Emilia and Modena by keyboardist Beppe Carletti and singer Augusto Daolio. The group debuted in 1966 with the single “Come potete giudicar”, a cover of Sonny Bono's “The Revolution Kind”. They gained significant attention in 1967 with Francesco Guccini's song “Dio è morto” which was broadcast by Radio Vatican despite being boycotted by state radio. I Nomadi participated in the Sanremo Festival for the first time in 1971, and achieved a Number 1 hit with “Io vagabondo” in 1972. The band continued to release albums and tour extensively, collaborating frequently with Guccini. In 1980, they released a live album with him titled Album concerto. Tragic events struck in 1992 when bassist Dante Pergreffi died in a car accident and frontman Augusto Daolio passed away after a brief illness. The band reformed with new members and continued their musical journey, releasing notable albums such as Contro (1993) and La settima onda (1994). They returned to the Sanremo Festival in 2006 with “Dove si va”, winning the group category.
