Huichol Musical

Huichol Musical is a Mexican group from Santa Catarina, Mezquitic, Jalisco, that fuses the indigenous Wixárika musical tradition with regional Mexican styles, performing in both Wixárika and Spanish. Emerging as cultural ambassadors for their community in 2006, the group blends traditional string instrumentation with modern rhythms, bringing their distinctive sound to a wider audience. After they made their debut in 2009 with the album Quiero Que Me Quieras, they had their breakthrough with the LP Desde México (2015), which earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Regional Mexican Album, with the track "Cumbia Cusinela" becoming a standout hit. Their recognition extended beyond music when they were named honorary mayors of Oklahoma City in the same year. Over the years, Huichol Musical continued to pay tribute to their roots on releases like Cielito Lindo (2015), and Que Viva el Huichol (2018), carving their own niche in the Regional Mexican scene.
