Hugo Helmig Toft Simonsen, known as Hugo Helmig, was a Danish singer-songwriter born on July 24, 1998, in Denmark. He grew up in Aarhus and began playing piano and guitar at an early age. His breakthrough came with the release of "Please Don't Lie" in 2017, which reached number 22 on the Danish music charts and was certified double platinum by IFPI Denmark. Helmig's debut EP Promise followed on March 9, 2018. His first full-length album, Juvenile, was released on March 1, 2019, and included the single "Young Like This," which was certified gold. In autumn 2021, Helmig announced a hiatus from his music career due to anxiety disorders and cocaine abuse. Tragically, he passed away on November 23, 2022, at the age of 24 in his sleep, in the presence of his father, after surviving a suicide attempt days earlier.
