Hollywood Bowl Orchestra

The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, managed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, was established on October 17, 1990 under John Mauceri. The orchestra debuted in July 1991 at the Hollywood Bowl with works by Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein. They released albums including Hollywood Dreams (1991) and Journey to the Stars: A Sci Fi Fantasy Adventure (1995). Mauceri's tenure saw a diverse repertoire, from Broadway musicals to film scores. In March 2008, Thomas Wilkins became Principal Guest Conductor and was promoted to Principal Conductor in 2014. The orchestra has continued to perform at the Hollywood Bowl, drawing from Southern California's freelance musicians.
