Hocico, an electro-industrial duo from Mexico City, was formed in 1993 by cousins Eric Garcia and Oscar Mayorga. The duo began experimenting with electronic music as teenagers, influenced by industrial artists such as Skinny Puppy. In 1989, they started their musical career in a group called Niñera Degenerada before forming Hocico de Perro in 1992, which was later shortened to Hocico. Their first full CD, Odio Bajo El Alma, released in 1997 on the label Opción Sónica with European distribution through Out Of Line, marked their breakthrough moment. The band's aggressive style of electronic music gained them recognition in Europe and America. Notable releases include 2017's The Spell of the Spider, which reached number 42 on the German national charts, and Artificial Extinction (2019), which peaked at number 30 in Germany.
