Helen Love

Helen Love, born in Wales, is the founding vocalist and guitarist of the Welsh indie band Helen Love, whose music blends punk rock, bubblegum pop and disco dance elements. The group was formed in 1992 with Helen Love, Sheena, Roxy and Mark, and the band released their first singles and EPs throughout the 1990s, including "Does Your Heart Go Boom" in 1997 and "And The Salvation Army Band Plays" on 3 December 2012, before issuing their debut studio album Love and Glitter, Hot Days and Music in 2000. Subsequent releases followed a steady trajectory: It's My Club and I'll Play What I Want To in 2007, Day‑Glo Dreams in 2013 and Smash Hits in 2016, each on labels such as Elefant Records and Alcopop! Records. Helen Love performed at notable venues including the 100 Club for Damaged Goods’ 25th anniversary and the Indietracks festival, and collaborated with artists such as Joey Ramone, who invited the band to New York and contributed backing vocals on the 2008 album Don't Worry About Me. Although none of their singles entered the UK Top 40, the band achieved a dedicated cult following within indie circles, secured a John Peel session in 1997, and saw their tracks covered by Ash, The Queers and Tullycraft, cementing their influence in the UK alternative rock scene.
