Haruka Ayase

Haruka Ayase, born on March 24, 1985, is a Japanese actress and singer who rose to fame after receiving the Special Jury Prize at the 25th Horipro Talent Scout Caravan in 2000. She began her acting career in 2001 with the TV drama The Files of Young Kindaichi and secured her first regular role in a drama series with Boku no Ikiru Michi in 2003. Her breakthrough came in 2004 as the lead in Crying Out Love in the Center of the World. Ayase made her singing debut in 2006 with the single "Period", produced by Takeshi Kobayashi, which entered the Oricon charts at number 8. In 2007, she landed her first solo lead role in Hotaru no Hikari, which spawned a successful sequel and film adaptation. She starred in the 2013 NHK taiga drama Yae no Sakura and has hosted the prestigious NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen multiple times. Her acting versatility shone in historical dramas like Guardian of the Spirit (2016–2018) and acclaimed films such as Our Little Sister (2015), which screened at Cannes. In 2023, she won Best Actress at the Hochi Film Awards for her performances in The Legend & Butterfly and Revolver Lily. In 2010, she released the single "Margaret".
