Harlem Gospel Choir

The Harlem Gospel Choir, an American gospel choir based in Harlem, New York, was founded on January 15, 1986, by Allen Bailey. The group comprises 40 members, ranging in age from 21 to 51, and gained prominence through their powerful performances and collaborations with notable artists. Throughout their career, they have performed for high-profile figures including Pope John Paul II and Presidents Carter and Obama, and collaborated with artists such as Diana Ross, Harry Belafonte, and Bono. The choir tours internationally each year, becoming the first American gospel choir to perform in countries including Australia, New Zealand, China, Russia, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Czech Republic, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Samoa, Thailand, Burma, and Morocco. They have appeared on major world stages including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Sydney Opera House, and maintain a regular performance schedule at Sony Hall in New York for a weekly gospel brunch.
