Haress

Haress were formed in Bishop’s Castle, a remote town on the Welsh–English border in Shropshire, by lifelong collaborators Elizabeth (Liz) Still and David Hand. They launched the project around 2016, seeking a musical outlet that could flex around family life—writing intimate guitar pieces, then expanding for live performances and recording sessions. As recordings evolved, the core duo were joined by Dave Smyth (drums), Chris Summerlin (guitar), plus occasional contributors like Thomas House (vocals) and Nathan Bell (trumpet). Rooted in British folk, Haress venture into hypnotic rural psychedelia, interweaving acoustic interplay, drones, mantra‑like electric riffs, and improvisation. Their sound embraces texture, atmosphere, and the Shropshire landscape itself. Released in 2019, their debut self-titled album was later reissued in 2022. That same year also saw the release of second album Ghosts, with a third release, the Skylarks EP, following in 2025.
