Gunnar Wiklund

Lars Gunnar Wiklund was born on August 17, 1935, in Luleå, Sweden. He began his career as a singer with several notable releases and performances. His breakthrough came with the release of "Han måste gå" in 1960, a Swedish cover of Jim Reeves' "He'll Have to Go", which gained significant attention. Wiklund's early albums included Gunnar Wiklund (1960) and 32'29 minuter med Gunnar Wiklund (1966), establishing him as a prominent figure in Swedish pop music. Wiklund participated in Melodifestivalen, Sweden's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, four times. His performances on this platform showcased his talent to a broader audience and contributed to his growing popularity. Throughout his career, he released several albums, including Gunnar Wiklund sjunger Jim Reeves (1970) and Minnenas melodier (1979), which featured popular songs like "Vi ska gå hand i hand" and "Mest av allt". These releases highlighted his versatility as an artist, covering a range of genres from crooner to middle-of-the-road pop. He achieved significant chart success with his hits on Svensktoppen, a Swedish music chart. Gunnar Wiklund passed away on September 29, 1989, aged 54.
