Gunna

American rapper Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, better known by his stage name Gunna, was born in College Park, Georgia, on June 14, 1993. After his studies, he marked his desire to become a rapper with the mixtape Hard Body, released in 2013 under the name Young Gunna. His meeting with Young Thug, who signed him to his label YSL Records, proved decisive for what followed. The Drip Season mixtape released in 2016 inaugurated a series that continued with Drip Season 2 and the Drip or Drown EP (2017) and Drip Season 3 (2018) and collaborations with Nav, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty and Lil Baby, with whom he teamed up as a duo for Drip Harder, with a guest appearance by Drake. In the wake of this, Gunna worked on his debut album Drip or Drown 2 (February 2019), which immediately peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 and introduced his trademark mumble rap mumbling over a trap background. Invited to deliver a verse on Mariah Carey's "Stay Long Love You", the rapper multiplied his appearances with Pia Mia, Nightmre, Chris Brown, French Montana, G-Eazy, A Boogie wit da Hoodie and also his German counterpart Ufo361 ("On Time"), during a busy 2019. The following year, marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, inspired the track "Quarantine Clean" in a trio with Turbo and Young Thug, still present with Lil Baby, Travis Scott, and Roddy Rich on the second album Wunna, the one of consecration with its first place on the Billboard charts. At the beginning of 2022, he released his third studio album DS4Ever, again at number 1, featuring a host of guests: Future, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Drake, Kodak Black, Chlöe, Lil Baby, G Herbo, Nechie, Chris Brown, Yung Bleu and Roddy Ricch. Imprisoned for a year following an old case involving the YSL gang, Gunna made his comeback in 2023 with the album A Gift & a Curse (ranked number 3), followed by the number 2 One of Wun (2024), featuring duets with Normani, Leon Bridges, Offset and Roddy Rich.
