Gugudan

Gugudan, often styled as gu9udan or gx9, was a prominent South Korean girl group launched by Jellyfish Entertainment in 2016. The group was originally made up of nine members including Mimi, Hana, Haebin, Nayoung, Sejeong, Sally, Soyee, Mina, and Hyeyeon. Before Gugudan's formation, Nayoung, Sejeong, and Mina gained recognition on the Mnet survival show, Produce 101, in 2016. Subsequently, Sejeong and Mina became members of the project group I.O.I. The group kickstarted their career with the release of the EP Act. 1 The Little Mermaid and its lead single "Wonderland" in 2016. In October 2018, Hyeyeon departed the group, transforming them into an octet. Gugudan's string of releases continued with Act. 2 Narcissus (2017), which included the popular song "A Girl Like Me." The single album Act. 3 Chococo Factory followed in 2017, reaching number 8 on the Circle Singles Chart. Act. 4 Cait Sith, their second single album, came out in 2018. The same year saw them step into the Japanese music scene with the extended play Stand By. Their momentum persisted with the 2018 EP, Act. 5 New Action. In 2020, Sally ventured into Produce Camp 2020, the Chinese rendition of Produce 101. However, later that same year, Gugudan announced their dissolution on December 31, 2020. Notably, all the members remained associated with Jellyfish Entertainment after their disbandment.
