Gary Foster

Gary Foster is a woodwind player, jazz musician, and highly prolific studio performer whose catalog includes solo albums, hundreds of movies scores, several seasons of The Carol Burnett Show, and studio appearances with artists ranging from Bob Dylan to Frank Sinatra. Born in Leavenworth, Kansas, on May 25, 1936, he moved to California in 1961 to work as a studio musician, having become a skilled saxophone, clarinet, and flute player. He quickly became one of Hollywood's go-to woodwind players, appearing on more than 500 movie scores over a period of decades while also backing up performers like Bette Midler, Michael Buble, and Shakira. Foster released albums of his own, too, including his 1964 debut, Alone Together, and his 2007 collaboration with jazz bassist Putter Smith, Perfect Circularity.
