The American heavy metal band Frozen Soul was formed in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2018. Guitarists Daniel Schmuck and Michael Munday, drummer Brady Trip, bassist Samantha Mobley, and vocalist Chad Green comprised the group's founding lineup, and the group released a demo, Encased in Ice, before the roster shifted to include newcomer Matt Dennard. Encased in Ice included a cover of Mortician's "Witch Coven," a move that highlighted the band's extreme sound, morbid subject matter, and reverence for old-school metal acts. Singles like "Tormented by Time" and "Wraith of Death" continued to build Frozen Soul's following throughout the death-metal community in 2021, and the band made its full-length debut with the album Crypt of Ice later that year. Although guitarist Daniel Schmuck had left the lineup by this point, he served as the album's producer and engineer nonetheless. Crypt of Ice featured several re-recorded songs that first appeared on the band's Encased in Ice demo. Two years later, Frozen Soul began releasing new material, beginning with the single "Morbid Effigy" and continuing with "Arsenal of War" and "Glacial Domination." All three songs appeared on the group's second full-length record, Glacial Domination," which reached Number 50 on Germany's Top 100 Albums chart later that year.
