Fragments of Unbecoming is a German melodic death metal band that was founded in Hesse in 2000. The band was formed as a side project by guitarists Sascha Ehrich and Stefan Weimar, who were previously active in Mortified and Veneral Disease. They were later joined by Ingo Maier on drums and Wolfram Schellenberg on bass. The current line-up consists of Sam Anetzberger (vocals), Stefan Weimar (guitar, vocals), Sascha Ehrich (guitar), Christopher Körtgen (bass) and Tobias Blach (drums). Their first work, the EP Bloodred Tales - Chapter I - The Crimson Season, was self-released in 2002. A year later, the band signed with Metal Blade Records and released their debut album Skywards - Chapter II - A Sylphe's Ascension. Further albums followed, including Sterling Black Icon - Chapter III - Black But Shining (2006), The Everhaunting Past - Chapter IV - A Splendid Retrospection (2009) and Dawnbringer (2025), which reached number 77 in Germany. Fragments of Unbecoming is known for their melodic and technically demanding death metal, which is characterized by complex guitar work and atmospheric elements.
