For Those I Love is the musical project of Irish singer, songwriter, and producer David Andrew Balfe. Emerging in 2020, For Those I Love blends elements of electronic music, post-punk, and hip-hop, creating a sound that is both emotionally raw and sonically innovative. Drawing heavily on personal experiences, the music explores themes of grief, love, and resilience, often with a powerful focus on loss and human connection. The project’s self-titled debut album, For Those I Love (2021), was released to critical acclaim. The album, a reflection of David Andrew Balfe’s grief following the sudden death of his close friend Paul Curran, combines spoken word, electronic beats, and emotional, diary-like lyricism. The album won the Choice Music Prize in 2021. He released the follow-up, Carving the Stone, in 2025.
