English electronic music group Fluke, formed in the late 1980s by Jon Fugler, Mike Tournier, Julian Nugent and Mike Bryant. The group released their first single "Island Life" (1988) however it failed to gain traction. They released two more white label vinyls: "Thumper!" (1989) and "Joni/Taxi" (1990), which featured a sample from Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi". These early releases secured them a record deal with Creation Records, leading to the release of their first CD single, "Philly", in 1990. Fluke's debut album, The Techno Rose of Blighty, followed shortly after, along with the single "The Bells" and a live album titled Out (In Essence). In 1993, Fluke achieved a breakthrough with the single "Slid", which became a club classic thanks to DJ Sasha's remixes on his Renaissance album. This success was followed by the release of their second album, Six Wheels On My Wagon, and further singles like "Electric Guitar" and "Groovy Feeling". The group released several more albums, including Oto (1995), Puppy (2003), and Risotto (1997). Fluke's music gained mainstream attention through its inclusion in various film and video game soundtracks, such as The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and the video game series Need for Speed: Underground. After a hiatus, Fluke returned with the single "Insanely Beautiful" on April 29, 2024.
