Floy Joy was an English music group formed in Sheffield, England, in 1982. The band consisted of brothers Michael Ward on horns and Shaun Ward on keyboards, bass, and guitar, with Elana Harris as the vocalist. Their debut single "Answer Through Me" was released in May 1983 through Virgin Records, produced by Andy Hernandez. After Harris left the band later that year, the Wards continued their work and eventually collaborated with American producer Don Was on their debut album Into The Hot, which was released in September 1984. This album included notable singles such as "Until You Come Back To Me" and "Operator", both of which charted in the UK Singles Chart at number 91 and number 86, respectively. In January 1985, Carroll Thompson joined Floy Joy as the new vocalist after being introduced to the Wards through Virgin's A&R department. The band then released their second album Weak in the Presence of Beauty in 1986, which included the single "Friday Night in This Cold City". However, neither the album nor its singles achieved significant commercial success. Floy Joy disbanded shortly after the release of this album.
