Fatbabs

French beatmaker and DJ Fatbabs is best known for his work with reggae singer Naâman, before embarking on a solo career. Hailing from Normandy (both his name and date of birth are undisclosed), he has been making a name for himself as a DJ since 2008, and began collaborating with Naâman in 2012, providing him with sounds for the Deep Rockers mixtape and working on three other albums, including the gold disc Rays of Resistance. After winning a mix competition in 2014, he launched his own career in 2017 with the Daily Jam EP, featuring some twenty international guests and exploiting a broad spectrum including reggae but also hip-hop, funk, soul, electro and jazz. The project released on Big Scoop Records is followed by various collaborations, with Vanzo, MC Kaur, Volodia or Balik. In 2019, Music for Kids was released, an educational album packed with collaborations with Demi-Portion, Naâman, Rachel Lacroix, Jahneration, Sizzla and Marcus Gad, among others. A new edition appeared the following year under the title Music for Kids - Playground, followed by 48° Nord (2021), an EP inspired by Ian Urbina's book The Outlaw Ocean. Nominated for a Grammy Award for his production of Jamaican Collie Buddz's album Take It Easy, Fatbabs works on the album This Love Is Forever (2025), anticipated by several singles. Bringing together a gallery of international musicians and performers, including Capleton, Davojah, Walshy Fire, Queen Omega, Pressure Busspipe, Sika Rlion, Christopher Martin, Roe Summerz and Jahneration, it was also one of the last appearances of Naâman, who died on February 7, 2025 before the album's release, and reached number 91 in the French charts.
