Eraserheads, a Filipino rock band formed in Quezon City in 1989, consisted of lead singer Ely Buendia, guitarist Marcus Adoro, bassist Buddy Zabala, and drummer Raimund Marasigan. The band met while attending the University of the Philippines Diliman and initially struggled to gain traction with their demo tapes. Their breakthrough came in 1993 with the release of their debut album Ultraelectromagneticpop!, which sold 300,000 copies by the end of the year. Notable songs from this period include "Pare Ko" and "Shake Yer Head". The band's subsequent albums, Circus (1994) and Cutterpillow (1995), also achieved commercial success, with hits like "Kailan", "Minsan", and "Overdrive". Eraserheads received MTV Asiaâs Viewers' Choice Award at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards in New York City for "Ang Huling El Bimbo". The band experimented with electronic and art rock styles for albums like Sticker Happy (1997) and Carbon Stereoxide (2001), before disbanding in 2002.
