Emiko Kaminuma

Emiko Kaminuma, born April 13, 1955, in Fukura, Hyogo Prefecture (now Minamiawaji City), is a Japanese television personality, singer, and former comedian. She began her entertainment career in 1971 as part of the comedy duo Umi no Harasenri & Mari with her sister Momoko Ashikawa, performing under the stage name Umi no Harasenri. Their duo gained popularity for witty banter and comedic timing, winning several awards including the Kamigata Comedy Grand Prize. After disbanding in 1977 due to marriage, Kaminuma returned to entertainment in 1978 under her married name and transitioned into solo activities, becoming a prominent host and singer mainly in the Kansai region. Despite a deep childhood passion for singing—nurtured in a family that loved performing arts—Kaminuma was guided into comedy by her father when her sister’s original partner disappeared. While she achieved great success in comedy, she has since expressed regret for not pursuing a singing career fully. Her 1975 hit single "Osaka Rhapsody", released as part of the duo, sold over 400,000 copies. In recent years, she continues to perform and has maintained her love of singing. In 2025, she released the heartfelt track "Jinsei Nakiwarai", reflecting her bittersweet journey in the entertainment world.
