Elizabeth & the Catapult

Elizabeth & the Catapult is an American indie pop and rock group formed in 2004 in Brooklyn, New York. Leader Elizabeth Ziman grew up in Greenwich Village and studied classical composition at the Berklee College of Music. In 2002, Ziman performed as a background vocalist for Patti Austin’s Ella Fitzgerald tribute tour, an experience that integrated jazz influences into her songwriting. The ensemble moved to Brooklyn in 2005 and released the recording Elizabeth & The Catapult in 2006. After signing with Verve Records, the group released the album Taller Children in 2009. The 2010 album The Other Side of Zero included the track “The Other Side of Zero” featuring Gillian Welch and David Rawlings. Subsequent studio releases included Like It Never Happened (2014), which featured the award-winning song “Someday Soon”, and Keepsake (2017). The band released the album Sincerely, E in 2021, featuring the single “pop the placebo”.
