El Afinaito, born Sergio Liñán Meza on October 27, 1979, was a Colombian champeta singer from Isla Fuerte, Bolívar, known for his distinct voice and infectious rhythms that brought champeta to wider audiences. Raised in a humble household as the fourth of ten siblings, he finished only secondary school but found his calling in music through a friend who recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue champeta—a genre gaining popularity for its vibrant Afro-Colombian roots. El Afinaito’s first recorded song, "La Bruja Loca," became a local hit, setting the stage for his breakthrough with "Busco Alguien Que Me Quiera," a track that opened doors and solidified his presence in the music scene. Following this success, he released memorable songs like "Palo Palito," "Nada Nadita," "Suerte Está Hechada," and "Te Va a Doler," all of which resonated with fans for their upbeat tempos and relatable themes. His music and charisma made him a beloved figure in champeta until his untimely passing on due to respiratory failure on December 29, 2012.
