East Village Opera Company

The East Village Opera Company was an American rock band co-founded by Canadian vocalist Tyley Ross and arranger/multi-instrumentalist Peter Kiesewalter in 2004. The group included eight other members: two guitarists, a bassist, a percussionist, and a string quartet, with AnnMarie Milazzo providing female vocals. Their debut performance took place in March 2004 at Joe's Pub in Manhattan. La Donna, their first album released under the Canal Records label in 2004, fused classic Italian arias and Neapolitan folk songs with modern musical stylings. The band's second album, The East Village Opera Company, was released on September 27, 2005 by Decca Records. Their third and final album, Olde School, debuted in August 2008 and received a 2009 Grammy nomination for Best Classical Crossover Album. The band has been on hiatus since 2010 as Kiesewalter started work on a new project called Brooklyn Rundfunk Orkestrata (BRO).
