Eagle-Eye Lanoo Cherry was born on May 7, 1968 in Stockholm, Sweden, into a family of artists. His father, Don Cherry, is a renowned jazz trumpeter; his half-sisters, Neneh Cherry and Titiyo, are famous for their trip hop and soul music respectively; his half-brother, Jan Cherry, is a violinist; and his other half-brother, David Ornette Cherry, is a jazz multi-instrumentalist. Eagle-Eye Cherry started out as a drummer, while studying to become an actor. In 1993, he appeared in the TV series South Beach. But when his father died in 1995, he decided to turn to music and recorded his first album, Desireless, alone in his bedroom. Despite the limited resources involved, the album became a worldwide success in 1997, selling almost four million copies. The single "Save Tonight" reached number 5 in the U.S. and number 6 in the UK. Falling in Love Again", released the following year, continued this success, reaching number 8 in the UK charts. In 1999, the singer was invited by Santana to perform "Wishing It Was" on the Supernatural album. This collaboration preceded Eagle-Eye Cherry's second album, Living in the Present Future (2000), which failed to chart in the U.S., but reached number 3 in Sweden and number 12 in the UK. Its successor, Sub Rosa (2003), suffered from a lack of visibility, reaching number 40 in Sweden. Nine years separate this album from its successor, Can't Get Enough, which does not appear in the charts. Street of You, released in 2018, only reached 172nd position in the French charts. In 2021, the track "Indecision", featured on the Desireless album, enjoyed a revival in Brazil, where it appeared at #97 in the Top 100. Eagle-Eye Cherry returned in the 2020s with the albums Back on Track (2023) and Become a Light (2025).
