Duncan Laurence

After competing in a local talent show at the age of 16, Dutch singer-songwriter Duncan Laurence, born Duncan de Moor, started his studies at the Rock Academy in Tillburg in 2013. He formed a band called The Slick and the Suited and released his solo debut single 'Broken Promises' in 2014. Laurence took part in 'The Voice Netherlands' in 2014, eventually coming fourth. He was mentored by the judge Ilse Delange, who he says was a big influence on his musical style. She encouraged him to put his song 'Arcade' forward as the entry for The Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019. The song was jointly written by Laurence with Wouter Hardy and Joel Sjöö. Laurence's songwriting credits include a collaboration with Jihad Rahmouni entitled 'Closer' which was written for K-pop band TVXQ. He also featured on the single 'Laat Gaan' with Sjors Can Der Panne in 2017.
