Maria Teresa Magdalena Abellare Llamedo, known professionally as Dulce, was born on July 22, 1961, in Cebu City, Philippines. She began her career at a very young age, joining amateur singing competitions from the age of two. Dulce's breakthrough came when she was discovered by composer George Canseco while performing at a club-restaurant in Manila. This led to her recording "Ako Ang Nasawi, Ako ang Nagwagi," which won the grand prize at the 4th Asian Singing Competition in Hong Kong in 1979. Throughout her career, Dulce has released over 30 albums and recorded more than 30 movie theme songs, earning her the moniker "Movie Theme Song Queen." She also won the Asia-Pacific Singing Contest in 1988 and finished first runner-up at the 3rd ABU Popular Song Festival in Malaysia.
