Dread Zeppelin

Dread Zeppelin was formed in 1989 in Sierra Madre, California, by bassist Gary Putman, drummer Curt Lichter, and guitarist Joseph "Severs" Ramsey, all former members of The Prime Movers. The trio recruited Las Vegas Elvis impersonator Greg Tortell and percussionist Bryant Fernandez to create a reggae‑rock parody of Led Zeppelin, releasing the novelty single "Immigrant Song" / "Hey Hey What Can I Do" on Birdcage Records in 1989. In 1990 the group signed with I.R.S. Records and issued the debut album Un‑Led‑Ed, followed by 5,000,000  Tortelvis  Fans  Can’t  Be  Wrong in 1991. Subsequent releases included It’s Not Unusual (1992), Hot & Spicy Beanburger (1993), and No Quarter Pounder (1995). After a brief period with Imago and later Cleopatra Records, the band released De‑jah Voodoo (1999) and Spam‑Bake (1998) through Cash Cow. Dread Zeppelin toured extensively, performing at venues worldwide and appearing in the film National Lampoon’s Last Resort (1994). The group disbanded in 2016 following their final performance on April  2, 2016.
