Dr Eidgenoss

Urs Fischer, known professionally as Dr Eidgenoss, was born on March 28, 1980, in Obbürgen, Nidwalden, Switzerland. In 2010, Fischer signed with Universal in Switzerland, and his debut album Nidwaldner Wurzlä (2011) reached number 29 on the Swiss Hitparade. Discography releases include Heimat isch Trumpf (2013), Freiheit (2017), and Meys Härz (2022). Notable songs are “Eysi Häimat” (2011) and “Stanserhorn” (2012), which was used to advertise the opening of the second Stanserhorn-Bahn. Fischer is known for traditional Swiss instruments, including the Schwyzerörgeli and Alphorn, and for Jodelgesang, a skill learned from his mother, Maria Fischer-Bircher.
