Real name Oliver Thomas Johnson, Austrian keyboardist and producer Dorian Concept was born in Vienna on September 16, 1984. A self-taught keyboard musician, he studied multimedia arts at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, adopting the pseudonym Dorian Concept in reference to the Dorian musical scale. By the mid-2000s, he was making a name for himself with videos based around his Micro Korg and other keyboards, notably by BBC DJ Benji B, who played some of his tracks in clubs, and then by Gilles Peterson, who attracted the attention of festival programmers. Signed by Kindred Spirits, Dorian Concept released his debut album When Planets Explode in 2009, between several EPs and remixes. The Ninja Tune label took an interest in him, releasing the EP Her Tears Taste Like Pears (2011) and inviting him to play at the Royal Albert Hall with The Cinematic Orchestra and the London Metropolitan String Quartet, before releasing the album Joined Ends (2014). After extensive touring, Dorian Concept signs with Brainfeeder for the critically acclaimed album The Nature of Imitation (2018). In 2020, his track "You're Untouchable" is chosen to feature in the game Grand Theft Auto Online, while the producer works on his fourth album What We Do for Others, released in 2022. Following the release of "Space II" on the Play Instinct label in 2024 and "Breathe" the following year , he collaborated with Bibio on "An Unopened Letter". His fifth album, Miniatures, was released in November 2025.
