Left-handed guitarist, mutil-instrumentalist, composer and producer, Djamel Laroussi was born in Algiers in 1966, of Kabyle origin. A passionate music fan, he grew up listening to traditional music such as chaâbi and raï, as well as Anglo-Saxon pop from the Beatles or Stevie Wonder. After graduating, he formed the group Acousmie, which did not last, despite a promising start. Djamel Laroussi went on to play guitar for the Orchestre National de Barbés and Cheb Mami, before releasing his first album, Sapoutaly, in 1998. The artist stands out for the diversity of his influences, easily combining pop, raï, jazz and salsa, leaving plenty of room for improvisation during his concerts. He released the album Étoile filante in 2003, followed by an explosive live album the following year. 2007 saw the release of 3 Marabouts, featuring the hit singles "Nadim" and "Zeina" and "Zeina". The artist performs live, and produces regular singles, such as "Chfiaâna" in 2020, or "Hob Akhir Ezamene" in 2022.
