Dirty is a hipâhop duo formed by cousins Daniel Thomas (born 1978) and Tarvares Webster (born 1981) in Montgomery, Alabama, where they first performed in local clubs and recorded early demos that gained regional attention. Their breakthrough came with the 1999 release of Country Versatile, followed by the 2001 national reâissue of The Pimp & da Gangsta under Universal Records, which established them as Alabamaâs first major rap act. In 2002, they signed with RapâAâLot Records and released Keep It Pimp & Gangsta, a project that peaked at number thirteen on the Top R&B/HipâHop Albums chart and number sixtyâthree on the Billboard 200; the album Hood Stories received significant radio play. Subsequent releases included Love Us or Hate Us (2003), Hood Stories (2005), and the 2013 albums Think Like a Pimp Act Like a Gangsta and The Art of Storytelling, both of which reinforced their presence on the Southern rap scene.
