Demet Evgar

The Turkish entertainer Demet Evgar has left a unique mark in music, TV, theater, and film. She was born to an Albanian family in the city of Manisa, Turkey, on May 18, 1980. Encouraged to pursue an artistic career by her parents, she attended the Istanbul University State Conservatory and began working as a professional actress at 20 years old. In 2000, she starred in the theater production Takanlar ve Takılanla and appeared in three different television shows, including Bir Demet Tiyatro and Çiçek Taksi. By 2005, she was starring in Turkish films, as well, earning a nomination for "Best Actress" at the Turkish Film Critics Association Awards with 2006's Beyza'nın Kadınları. She also received nominations for "Best Actress" from a different ceremony, the Yeşilçam Awards, with the 2009 dramatic film Güneşi Gördüm and the 2010 comedy Yahşi Batı. Three years later, she made her debut as a solo musician with the 2013 single "Farketmeden." "Mak Mek Mok" followed in 2014, with "Bu Şarkıyı Dinliyorsan" appearing in 2019 and "Nanay" arriving in 2020. "Rüyamda Buluttum," a duet with Can Bonomo, was released in 2021. In 2024, Demet Evgar reached number 12 on Turkey's Top 200 Shazam chart with a new single, "Nanay."
