Deceased

Deceased, an American death/thrash metal band from Virginia, was formed in 1985 by King Fowley and Doug Souther. The group initially aimed to "out-thrash Slayer" and went through several name changes before settling on Deceased in 1986. Their first lineup included Fowley on drums and vocals, Mark Adams on guitar, and Rob Sterzel on bass. Tragedy struck in March 1988 when Sterzel was killed in a hit-and-run accident. Les Snyder joined as bassist later that year, and the band signed with Relapse Records in 1990, releasing their debut album Luck of the Corpse. Notable releases include Supernatural Addiction (2000) and Behind The Mourner's Veil (2001). After parting ways with Relapse in 2003, Deceased continued to release material independently. In November 2018, drummer David "Scarface" Castillo drowned, but the band carried on with Amos Rifkin as his replacement. Their most recent album, Children of the Morgue, was released in August 2024.
