De Staat is a Dutch alternative rock band formed in Nijmegen in 2006 by lead singer Torre Florim. They gained traction through live performances and supported the Belgian band dEUS in 2008 before signing with Excelsior Recordings. Their debut album, Wait for Evolution (2009), was followed by international success with Machinery (2011). De Staat's third album, I_CON (2013), reached Number two on the Dutch Album Top 100 Chart. The band supported Muse on their Drones World Tour in Europe in 2016 and released their sixth studio album, Bubble Gum (2019).
