David Hillyard & The Rocksteady Seven

David Hillyard & The Rocksteady Seven, an American ska and jazz band from New York City, formed in 1992. Led by tenor saxophonist David Hillyard and percussionist Larry McDonald, the group is known for blending reggae, rocksteady, and jazz with world music elements. Their debut album Playtime was released in 1999 on Hellcat Records. The band's second album, United Front, followed in 2003 on Do Tell Records and Brixton Records, featuring stronger political undertones. In 2007, they released their third album, Way Out East: Live at the Kassablanca, capturing the energy of their live performances. The band has seen success in Europe and on United States college radio stations, with a documentary short titled "Trouble Sleep" released in 2015. Their album, Plague Doctor, was released in 2022 on ORG Music.
