David Byrne

Former leader of Talking Heads, David Byrne (born in Dumbarton, Scotland, on May 14, 1952) is less successful but no less adventurous, from solo projects to collaborations. The founding of the Luaka Bop label demonstrated his interest in world music, and his artistic approach has made him one of the most closely followed creators on the planet, whether in film, design, photography or performance art. With Brian Eno, he is responsible for the album My Life in the Bush of Ghosts (1981), a major recording of the fusion of world and Western music. Author of several solo albums, including Rei Momo (1989), Uh-Oh (1992), David Byrne (1994) and Feelings (1997), he continued in the 2000s with Look Into the Eyeball (2001) and Grown Backwards (2003). In 2008, he reunited with his elder alter-ego Brian Eno for the album Everything That Happens Wiill Happen Today. His show Here Lies Love, set to music with Fatboy Slim, was recorded and released in 2010. David Byrne is also a sought-after composer for film directors and choreographers. In 2012, he produced a duet album with singer-guitarist St. Vincent, Love This Giant, followed six years later by the multimedia project American Utopia, whose album features contributions from Brian Eno, Sampha and Oneohtrix Point Never. Seven years later, he still enjoys blurring the lines with his protean music, an alternative pop-rock dynamic with the allure of a global road trip on the album Who Is the Sky? (2025), recording a duet with the Ghost Train Orchestra and Paramore singer Hayley Williams.
