Born in Oxford, Ohio, on July 11, 1960, songwriter David Baerwald is best known for the duo David & David, which he formed with David Ricketts for the cult album Boomtown (1986). Composer under pseudonym for other artists, Baerwald signed his first solo album Bedtime Stories in 1990, with the participation of Joni Mitchell. Two years later, Triage is a concept album with political and social themes. Critically acclaimed but not a commercial success, Baerwald was nonetheless influential among his peers, and together with Dick Bottrell he formed an informal group of musicians, the Tuesday Music Club, which featured on Sheryl Crow's Tuesday Music Club album. He continued to compose for the cinema, notably the soundtrack to the 2002 film Hurlyburly, before unveiling the personal album Here Comes the New Folk Underground the same year. Back with the confidential EPs Hellbound Train (2016), Hard Times (2017) and Reckless Boy (2018), the artist is also recognized for his spy novel, The Fire Agent.
