Dave Pietro, born February 10, 1964 in Southboro, Massachusetts, is an American saxophonist and woodwind artist. He earned a bachelor's degree in music education from North Texas State University and toured with the school's One O'Clock Lab Band. In 1987, Pietro moved to New York City to start his professional career. From 1994 to 2003, he played lead alto saxophone and recorded six CDs with the Toshiko Akiyoshi Jazz Orchestra. Throughout his career, Dave has collaborated with notable musicians including Woody Herman, Lionel Hampton, Maynard Ferguson, Maria Schneider, and the Dave Matthews Band. As a leader, he released several albums, including Embrace: Impressions of Brazil (2007), which received critical acclaim for its Brazilian jazz mix. His album Standard Wonder: The Music Of Stevie Wonder (2007) was voted one of the top 10 jazz CDs of 2001 by Bob Blumenthal of the Boston Globe and Bill Milkowski of Jazz Times.
